Passion to be a Plant Operator at 54 Years: Thomas Ayuku’s Story
Age is just a number for 54 year old grandfather of six. Thomas Ayuku aspires to be a plant operator. With a passion for the course he enrolled for training at Sensei in October 2018. He is ready to get the skills that will see his dream career materialize.
Ayuku is a father of six children and a grandfather. He hails from Kakamega County and is a proud student in the heavy machinery class. His aim is to acquire plant operator skills to enable him contribute towards building the Nation’s Infrastructure.
“Despite my age I believe I can be productive to the country especially in rural areas where construction activities are ongoing”, he said. He adds that those in fear of not getting a job after training should always believe in themselves and never doubt their future.
Mr Ayuku was once a Stock Broker with one of the Insurance companies in the country. He left his job to follow his passion in Plant operator. He encourages the youth to make use of their energy to generate income saying:
“Young people should use their energy to train in technical courses to enable them be part of building the nation. This will enable them earn from the work that is generally considered as dirty but very rewarding.”
